This site was first published in January 2024, when I bought Iris Abbott.
I’m Steve Wood, and this is a companion site to bream.org, built for the historic narrow boat Bream, which I’ve owned since 1999.
My intention with this site is to tell the story of my journey with Iris Abbott, whatever that may turn out to be, but also to explore the history of the boat.
As with bream.org, this site is WordPress-powered, and as far as possible (subject to spammers!) I will be inviting people to comment on posts here.
Thanks to everyone who has shared photos and information with me. If any copyrighted images need to be credited or removed, please do let me know. Inevitably a lot of images make their ways through several hands these days and it is difficult to know exactly where they came from.
The photo at the top of this page was taken by Rebekah Parrott. My particular thanks to her, and to and Matt, who have shared lots of information acquired during their time on the boat, which will eventually end up on these pages.
